* How to Read Recording Speed

What is 30ips or 60ips? ips (images per second) indicates recording speed for all cameras connected. For example, if a 60ips DVR has 6 cameras connected, each camera can record up to 10ips (or 5ips for 3 cameras and 15ips for another 3 cameras, if set-up per camera is allowed). pps (pictures per second) or fps (frame per second) means the same as ips.

About Resolution: Picture resolution and recording speed are contrary to each other. If maximum recording speed is 30ips at 704x480 resolution, this speed can be up to 60ips at 704x240 and up to 120ips at 352x240. Resolutions are also called as below:

   •  704x480: D1 or 4CIF
   •  704x240: Half D1 or 2CIF
   •  352x240: CIF

Real-time video is recorded at 30ips speed. Few models offer real-time recording at the highest D1 resolution per camera.
