STEP 1: PREPARE CABLE
Cut the coax cable. Use a proper cable cutter.
Adjust the depth of blades of the stripper (refer to the manual). Insert coax cable into the stripper, leaving about 1/8" of exposed cable. Make sure the tool is set for the right size of "59" which will be seen on the top hole. Rotate the tool clockwise sufficiently enough to obtain a good strip. Squeeze handles to remove stripper from cable.
When stripped properly.
Remove the waste material from strip and expose the cable.
Remove the PVC jacket. Be careful not to take out the copper braid.
Twist the outer braid in a clockwise direction in such a manner that about 1/8 inch of inner dielectric foam is bared, and the braid is left flat. Stray or loose braid, especially if it touches the center conductor, can cause shorts.
| |
STEP 2: ASSEMBLE BNC CONNECTOR
Gently insert the center conductor down into the back end of the twist-on BNC connector, feeling it into the guide hole, firmly push the cable home as far as possible, then screw the connector onto the cable in a clockwise direction until it stops.
Visually inspect the connection; make sure no braiding is exposed and the BNC connector is firmly attached to the cable. Now you have finished one end and make the other end with the same process.
| |
STEP 3: TEST THE CABLE
A test terminator comes with the tester.
Install test terminator onto one end of a cable run.
Install tester onto the opposite end of cable to be tested. Press the test button. Tester will indicate if the cable is "GOOD", "BAD", or "OPEN".
